Snowmobile - Lapland Expedition in the Arctic Circle
Available from 15th of January - 20th of April. Groups of 4 to 10 people.
Amazing trip over the Kvikkjokk mountain regions of Lapland, Northern Sweden. You have your own snowmobile for 5 days and travel over the vast snow covered terrain stopping for ice fishing, snowshoe walking and of course learning how to handle a snowmobile in the deep snow. Accommodation is a mixture of hotels, remote cabins and mountain based village camps with excellent restaurants.
Day 1 Our guides welcome you at Luleå. Minibus transfer to Jokkmokk 180km / 2 hours. We stop at the Arctic Circle for a short visit, certificate and a drink. Upon arrival in Jokkmokk we check in to the Hotel Jokkmokk. Accommodation is in shared double rooms. Shortly after, there is a briefing and introduction session with hand-outs. A two course dinner in the restaurant followed by a sauna. Overnight stay in the hotel.
Day 2 Breakfast buffet is served in the hotel restaurant. After breakfast, thermal equipment is distributed and we check the equipment and go over the safety instructions before we depart from the hotel with the snowmobiles, heading north towards Laddon Lake. We stop for a Lapland lunch in the forest en route and maybe some ice fishing. In the late afternoon we reach Karats Lake and Salmon Island where we make our base camp. Here we stay overnight in 4 bed mountain cabins, basic, but comfortable. Two course Lapland dinners are served in the mountain cabins followed by a traditional wood sauna. Overnight stay in beds and sleeping bags.
Day 3 We start the day with a traditional Lapland breakfast served in the mountain cabins. Today we take a mountain tour and we try to reach the peaks close to Tarravalley and the Sulitelma glacier. If conditions permit, we will do some ice fishing and snowshoe walking. Lunch is served outdoors next to a campfire. In the late afternoon we will be back at Salmon Island. Dinner and a sauna. Overnight stay is in our mountain cabins on beds and in sleeping bags.
Day 4 Early breakfast in the Lapland wilderness. Then we pack the snowmobiles and leave for the Kabla mountains. Lunch is en route. We drive around the beautiful and wild Kabla area and down to the village in Kvikkjokk before we head back to the Årrenjarka camp for dinner. Arrenjarka has an excellent and newly built restaurant where we eat and then stay overnight in the comfortable 4 bed wooden cabins.
Day 5 Early breakfast at Årrenjarka camp. After breakfast we help each other to pack our equipment and then depart back to Jokkmokk on the snowmobiles. We stop for lunch in the forest en route. Back in Jokkmokk early afternoon. Minibus transfer back to Luleå and/or airport for departure.
Lapland Expedition - Price: Swedish Kr 17,950 per person - 1 person per snowmobile
Price includes: VAT, two way transfer Luleå to Jokkmokk in a minibus, 1 overnight stay in a double room at Hotel Jokkmokk, two course dinners at Hotel Jokkmokk, Thermal clothing and equipment, helmet, 3 overnight stays in the mountain cabins including two course dinners, outdoor lunches and breakfasts. Activities such as ice fishing, snowshoe walking, 1 snowmobile per person, 2 professional and experienced guides during all travel and stays.
Price excludes: Alcoholic beverages.
